Citroen has released the updated C5 Aircross in India. The starting price is Rs 36.67 lakh (ex-showroom, India). In India, you will only be able to get the new C5 Aircross in the fully-loaded Shine (dual tone) trim. The C5 Aircross facelift has a heavily redesigned front end and a new interior with more features. Under the hood, however, it still has the same 2.0-liter diesel engine.

  • Carries over 177hp, 2.0-liter diesel engine
  • The interior gets a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit.
  • Rivals the Tucson, Tiguan, and Compass

The Citroen C5 Aircross facelift looks like the Tucson.

Most of the changes to the look of the C5 Aircross facelift are in the front fascia. The layered look of the split headlamps on the model before the facelift has been replaced with a cleaner look for the single-piece headlamps that split at the edges. Now, the wraparound headlights have two sets of LED Daytime Running Lamps that line up with the double Chevron logo in the middle of the grille.

The front bumper also has a much cleaner look. The air intake in the middle is narrower and doesn’t look like a block anymore. There’s also a new fake silver skid plate and deeper air intakes on each side that are said to make the car more aerodynamic. The side profile is mostly the same, but the 18-inch alloy wheels look new. When you look at the back, it is mostly the same as the old model, except that the taillights have been changed. They are now rectangular and have a darker finish. Read More: Tata Nexon EV Jet Edition costs Rs 17.5 lakh in India.

You can choose from four different colors for the new C5 Aircross: Pearl White, Perla Nera Black, Cumulus Grey, and a new color called Eclipse Blue.

The inside and features of the Citroen C5 Aircross

A lot of changes have also made to the inside. The 8-inch touchscreen built into the dashboard has replaced with a 10-inch touchscreen separate from the dashboard. Also, the AC vents that used to be in the shape of cubes on either side of the infotainment screen have changed to more traditional-looking horizontal units below. The touch-based shortcut keys for the infotainment system are still there, but they are now below the air conditioning vents.

The gear lever has replaced with a new toggle switch in the center console, which is another small change. The circular dial for the driving modes on the center console has replaced by a new rectangular button. The graphics and interface on the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster have updated. As before, the C5 Aircross has three individual seats in the second row that can slide, recline, and fold away. Citroen says the seats now have 15 mm more padding, making them more comfortable. Also, the chairs, armrests, and center console have new upholstery made of a mix of leather and fabric in shades of black and grey.

The updated C5 Aircross still has automatic wipers and LED headlights, a powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free tailgate opening, hands-free parking, six airbags, ESC, and traction control. The trunk can hold up to 1,630 liters, but it can only hold 580 liters at first.

The engine and gearbox of the Citroen C5 Aircross

The updated C5 Aircross still has the same 2.0-liter diesel engine in India. This unit has a peak output of 177hp and a peak torque of 400Nm. It paired with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox; only the front wheels get power. Citroen says that the C5 Aircross gets 17.5 kpl out of a gallon of gas.

Citroen has slowly getting rid of diesel engines around the world, and this 2.0-liter unit has already been taken off the market in other countries, where it has been replaced by 1.5-liter diesel, gasoline, or gasoline-hybrid engines. On the other hand, India keeps the smooth and powerful 2.0-liter diesel engine, which goes well with the C5 Aircross’s focus on comfort and laid-back style.
